Introduction
When creating a segment in Queryly, you need to choose a join key.
This is the identifier on which the link between several tables will be based.
It is defined according to the marketing needs in terms of targeting and activation, and has an impact on the data sources available to build the segment.
Choosing your join key
There are 5 join keys:
- Email address: email address in the database
- Customer ID: identifier for an individual in the database
- Unique customer ID: master customer ID in the context of a Unique Customer Repository
- Cookie: identifier for behavioral (browsing) data
To choose the right join key, you need to take several factors into consideration:
- the database uniqueness key: email address, customer ID, etc.
- the marketing purpose of the segment: email campaign, SMS campaign, media banner, etc.
