Introduction
Sending a message within a journey makes it possible to communicate with a defined population. Three channels are available: email, SMS and postal mail. This can be done by adding one of the following nodes, available in the Channel category:
Send an email
Send an SMS
Send a postal mail
Configuring the Send an email node
Once the Send an email node has been added, several settings must be entered
Email to send: allows you to select the message to distribute from the available messages
Random deduplication on the Email field : allows you to remove duplicate email addresses if the population contains the same email address multiple times, keeping only one (random selection)
Test email addresses: allows you to specify the email addresses that will receive the message when testing the journey
Update personalisation: allows you to refresh the personalisation data of the population that will receive the message
Show advanced settings:
Apply a function: allows you to apply specific processing
Exclude opt-outs and non-opt-ins: allows you to keep only people who have given their consent to receive messages (opt-ins)
Replace the email address to contact with another field available in the segment
Add additional fields: allows you to add variables specific to the send, used for specific processing or personalisation. The value entered will be identical for all targeted contacts. These fields do not appear in the other journey steps, or in the node preview or export.
Configuring the Send an SMS node
Once the Send an SMS node has been added, several settings must be entered
SMS to send : allows you to select the message to distribute from the available messages
Random deduplication on the mobile field: allows you to remove duplicate phone numbers if the population contains the same phone number multiple times, keeping only one (random selection)
Test phone number: allows you to specify the phone numbers that will receive the message when testing the journey: the phone number must be entered in the format +336XXXXXXXX
Update personalisation: allows you to refresh the personalisation data of the population that will receive the message.

Configuring the Send a postal mail node
Once the Send a postal mail node has been added, several settings must be entered
Postal mail to send : allows you to select the message to distribute from the available messages
Random deduplication on the postal address field : allows you to remove duplicate postal addresses if the population contains the same address multiple times, keeping only one (random selection).
Update personalisation: allows you to refresh the personalisation data of the population that will receive the message.

Add additional fields: allows you to add variables specific to the send, used for specific processing or personalisation. The value entered will be identical for all targeted contacts. The field will be added to the transmitted file; however, it will not be present in the other journey steps, or in the node preview or export.
Please note: during a test, no file is generated or deposited with the routing partner.
Conclusion
The Send an email, Send an SMS and Send a postal mail nodes make it possible to communicate with the populations present in the journey.
