Introduction
From the General tab in Sendingly’s settings, you can create, edit, or delete SMS and OADC senders and make them available in the desired groups.
The naming of these senders is regulated according to the destination countries.
Rules for creating a sender
Rules common to all countries
An SMS sender ID must consist of between 3 and 11 alphanumeric characters: no spaces or special characters.
To ensure compatibility with all carriers, the recommended minimum length is 3 characters.
French Regulations
AF2M maintains a list of prohibited keywords to limit the use of protected trademarks and/or designations. The selected OADCs must not contain these keywords.
Exceptions may be granted upon request to support.
International Rules
Internationally, the display of a custom sender depends on the rules in effect with local telecom operators.
There are three possible scenarios:
- Operators do not allow sender personalization: in this case, SMS messages sent with a custom sender are received with a default numeric sender
- Carriers allow sender customization, and the intended sender must be pre-registered
- Operators allow transmitter customization, and pre-registration is not required
For example:
- In Belgium, sender customization does not work: all SMS messages are received with a 4-digit short number
- In the United States and Canada, SMS messages are received with a long number
- For certain countries, including those in the Middle East, the sender must be pre-registered with mobile operators by providing a NOC (Non-Objection Letter) and a Trade License
