Introduction
Personalisation within a campaign involves incorporating information about the recipient into the content sent to them.
This article explains the differences between the two types of personalisation offered in the tool
Simple personalisation
A personalisation field is a field present in your target which takes the format {{MM:PERSONALISATION_FIELD}}.
The prefix is always "MM:", making it easier to identify personalisation fields.
When the campaign is sent, the personalisation field automatically retrieves the corresponding value for each person in the target, first name or title for example.
You can personalise campaigns by adding personalisation fields to the following elements:
- Message title ;
- Action when the notification is clicked ;
- Message content ;
- Within the personalised payload.
To add personalisation fields, see How do I perform simple personalisation in the push notification channel?
Dynamic personalisation
Dynamic content consists of displaying different content in the push notification depending on one or more criteria present in the campaign target.
Dynamic content can be :
- a title in a notification ;
- The notification message.
For example, you might want to send an A message to segment 1 of your target audience and an A' message to segment 2 of your target audience.
To define this dynamic personalisation, please see How do I use dynamic personalisation in the push notification channel?
This option is not available until the target has been calculated. Dynamic content is based on the fields present in the target.
Conclusion
Content can therefore be personalised for each individual, provided that the target contains the information required for personalisation.
