Introduction
Creating a QR code in Factorly lets you redirect users to a specific URL or text.
This article lists the 3 steps in order to generate a QR code.
QR code creation
Click on the Create QR code button at the top right of the page, then fill in the general QR code parameters:
- QR code name (mandatory field),
- Group name (mandatory field),
- Location: to store the QR code in a folder as soon as it is created,
- Type: choose whether the QR code scan should redirect to a URL or a text.
Please note: for QR codes redirecting to a URL, the selected group must have a URL shortener account configured. For more information, read the article on Parameters part.
Note: QR codes redirecting to a URL are tracked and report statistics in Dashboardly. QR codes redirecting to text only do not return any statistics.
The default validity period for a QR code is 1 year.
QR code format editing
Click on Confirm to proceed to QR code format editing:
- The redirection URL or text to which the QR code scan should redirect,
- Size in pixels (width = height),
- QR code color
- QR code background color
A QR code preview at the bottom of the page lets you see changes in real time.
Please note:
- Every QR code is linked to a group. The group is selected by the user as soon as the new content is created.
- It's important to have a deep, intense contrast (example: purple or black QR code on white background; white QR code on black background).
- The appearance of the QR code cannot be modified once it has been created.
Confirmation of creation
Click on Confirm to create the QR code.
A detail page displays the following information:
- QR code preview (scan can be tested with a mobile phone),
- Image URL: copy this URL for use in an image component in email and/or landing page content
- Its redirection URL
- Its size in pixels
Conclusion
Once the QR code has been created, it can be used in either the Drag & drop editor or the HTML editor. This information is given in the following article How do I use a QR code?
